About Federico
One artisan. Every surface, by hand.
Federico trained in the Italian tradition of lime plastering and has spent his working life with a trowel in hand.
He works with materials imported directly from Italy, and treats each wall as a reading of the room: its proportions, its light, and how the finish will sit in it at different hours of the day.

Venetian plaster and microcement for commercial interiors — reception areas, hospitality venues, boutique retail fit-outs, showrooms, and office lobbies. Every surface is trowelled on site by Federico, so the finish is matched to the lighting, the joinery, and the way the room is actually used.
Because microcement is seamless, it suits high-traffic floors, bar fronts, counters, and wet areas without grout lines to stain or fail. Venetian plaster brings depth and movement to the surfaces people stand closest to — entries, feature walls, and the wall behind the front desk.
Signage and logos can be formed directly in the surface — debossed or raised into the plaster rather than fixed on top of it — so branding reads as part of the architecture. Work is scheduled around trade access and opening hours, and samples are prepared for sign-off before anything is committed.

What is the difference between Venetian plaster and microcement?
Venetian plaster is a hand-burnished lime and powdered marble finish, best where depth of texture and how a wall reacts to light matter. Microcement is a contemporary coating — either lime based or cement based — fully seamless and waterproof, which is why it suits bathrooms, floors and wet areas.
How long does a typical project take?
Most residential projects run from three to ten working days on site, depending on area and complexity. The custom sample process happens before any work begins, so the on-site time is purely application.
Can it be applied to bathrooms and wet areas?
Yes. Microcement is fully waterproof and is routinely applied to showers, floors and pool surrounds with no grout lines anywhere. Venetian plaster suits bathroom walls outside the direct wet zone.
Do you work on exteriors and commercial spaces?
Yes — Melbourne-wide, interior and exterior, and for commercial fit-outs including reception areas, hospitality and retail, with signage formed directly in the surface where required.
Is the finish difficult to maintain?
No. Completed surfaces are sealed and need only a soft cloth and pH-neutral cleaner. Microcement in showers behaves like any sealed wet-area surface, and plaster walls age gracefully without repainting.
Why does this cost more than paint or tiles?
Because it is not a product you buy by the roll or the box. Every surface is trowelled by hand, layer by layer, using lime and marble or microcement imported from Italy — a single wall can take days and cannot be rushed or sprayed on. There are no grout lines, no joins and no repainting cycle, and the result is one of a kind. If the budget is closer to paint or tile, this is honestly not the right finish, and Federico will say so at the consultation rather than sell you something that doesn't fit.
